28 04 2008You can have songs and you can record songs. But the songs will change if you don’t record them all exactly at once as you have practiced them immediately previous to your most recent recording session. And you can always change the vocals and make the concept dumber or more intelligent. You can sing about more racism, intellectualism, homosexuality, fucking, white privilege, going to the supermarket, child abuse, or the sweet perfumes of the middle ages.
Now you have to decide how to record them. Well, what about the mood for recording them? Should you be in the most manic state to try and channel a positive energy into each song, so that the permanent record of each song can correspond to a really fun experience of recording them? Or does it matter if you’re tired or feeling pissed off or on? Or is felt feeling just a myth of the recording process? Can you ever transcend the limits of Cubase Studio Four? Is there any substitute for just writing really good melodies? Do you just need a summer of limited obligation to do so?
